Social Media and Managing Google Plus

As a modern business manager you should be developing an effective set of social media management skills.

Those skills should incorporate ebusiness building, and an essential part of ebusiness is working social media networks.

It’s already very clear that Google has big plans for Google Plus (G+), and the bottom line is that any modern business that depends on consumers will benefit from knowing what Google Plus is and how to use it to track what consumers are saying and what they are sharing.

Developing good Social Media Management Skills is essential for managing google plus properly.

Business should get familiar with Managing Google Plus today.

In particular, any business manager worth his salt should be allocating valuable time to explore Googles new social network and learn how it and it’s partner, the Google +1 button, can and will impact your online business presence.

You should definitely be learning how to manage Google Plus and leverage its strengths to promote yourself, as well as your company and your brand.

Firstly, always remember that social networking connects with individuals on a personal level, and you must respect this in order to build a beneficial relationship with G+ users.

People won’t want to see your ads, they won’t want to hear about you. But they also want to know what you can do for them.

Google Plus One Button

Encourage G+ users to engage with your business by sharing interesting news, promoting activities, apps and contests.

Nurture your circles by asking for feedback and then acting on it, keep your G+ circles in the loop, provide incentives to spread the word and construct effective circles that will spread your message through word-of-mouth.

The Google +1 Button. An eBusiness ranking factor and how it influences your online presence.

Google Plus One Button

Google has confirmed that the number of +1 clicks your website gets will influence the position of your website in search results.

Adding the +1 button to pages on your own site lets users recommend your content, knowing that their friends and contacts will see their recommendation when its most relevant in the context of Google search results. In addition, a users +1’s can appear on the +1 tab of their Google Profile.

Content recommended by friends and acquaintances is often more relevant than content from strangers.

For example, a movie review from an expert is useful, but a movie review from a friend who shares your tastes can be even better.

Because of this, +1’s from friends and contacts can be a useful signal to Google when determining the relevance of your page to a users query.

So, how will this affect your webpages and what do you have to to do make sure that Google includes your website?

What is Google’s +1 button?

The +1 button is Google’s version of Facebooks Like button. The +1 button is displayed on Google’s search result pages and webmasters can add the Google +1 button to their own web pages … (get more information and the +1 code here).

Website visitors who like the information you provide can click the +1 button to show Google that they approve or want to recommend it.

A webpage that gets large quantities of +1 clicks obviously offers something that makes it better than the average site and it makes sense for Google to show those pages higher in the search results.

It’s that simple. Add the code, encourage visitors to click and recommend your great quality content and you should reap the rewards.

Why it’s difficult to game the Google +1 system

Some websites have already started to offer +1 click packages. This is where you pay a fee and the service will artificially increase the number of +1 clicks on your website.

However, it is very unlikely that these clicks will increase the position of a web page in Google’s search results:

Why? Because you need a Google account to click on the +1 button and since Google knows who’s clicking and they also know the other click and browsing habits of that person, they can spot artificial clicks a mile off.

These artificial +1 services are also in direct violation of Google Quality Guidelines and as they usually use the same accounts and/or create new Google accounts just for those clicks, it’s relatively easy for Google to detect artificial clicks and suspend accounts.

You see it’s the quality of the +1 click that matters, not the quantity. So, don’t buy +1 clicks for your website as it’s likely that Google will find out and your site could be de-indexed.

So what does +1 mean for your website?

+1 clicks are a ranking factor in Google’s algorithm and you should add the Google +1 button to your web pages.

Many websites don’t use the button yet so start now and you will gain a small but important advantage if you add the button now.

And remember; the +1 button is not the only ranking signal that Google uses to determine the position of your site in the search results. Google uses many more signals.
